Pray
Please check back often for specific prayer requests in the ongoing adventure we have with Zeke & Family.
JUNE 26th
- Hearing test on Sunday! 9am MT, put it in your phone and pray for us!
-No movement on the oxygen this week; he didn’t regress, which is good – but didn’t improve and therefore get cut back at all, which is bad.
- Pray for wisdom as the doctors begin to colaborate and discuss the next few steps
- Pray for WEIGHT GAIN – we need several ounces by Monday morning to satisfy the doctors, he’s putting on some but not enough!
-Pray for strenght and patience for our family as we work to balance week for of doctors, work, family and sanity
JUNE 15th
- Praise! Zeke’s platelet count came back today upwards of 375,000! That’s a spectacular number, especially considering he was at ~25,000 when he received the transfusion last week and only up to 90,000 as recently as the 6th. Granted, there was no reason that he would have any troubles with this, at least related to his current prognosis, but it’s a big relief that he’s cranking out his own platelets like he’s supposed to.
- Praise! His oxygen levels were high as well, upper 90’s. That means he’s been cut down from 1/8 on the oxygen to 1/32, with only 1/64th to go before he’s cut off! So, we’re on the path to getting him off of oxygen, though it will likely be another week or two. But PROGRESS!
- Pray for his weight; he weighed in today slightly below where he was on Tuesday. No one is too concerned yet, though they scheduled him another weigh-in on Thursday to make sure he’s headed in the right direction. Pray that he’ll gain some weight and start to fatten up.
- Keep praying for his hearing. Yesterday, Jesi Vacuumed right next to him and did’nt wake him up. If you have kids, you know how crazy that is. If you don’t, you can guess.
JUNE 11th
- Appointments have been set up with most of the specialist, starting next week and running through the first part of July. Pray that our doctors would be filled with wisdom specific to our case and how we should work with Zeke.
- Zeke’s third hearing test failed again; it’s a pass/fail test and the nurses told us there was some activity, but not enough to pass him. He’s not bothered by noise in the room as he sleeps, etc… the doctor yesterday said it was pretty concerning, but it was about 12th on the list of concerning things. So, Pray for that…
- We’re fighting all the normal sleep and rhythm related issues that come with a newborn; we’re obviously tired. Zeke seems somewhat touch deprived from his 10 day stint in the ICU, and he puts up a big fuss when we put him down. I can’t say I blame him, but he’s going to have to get used to it in the next few days.
- Some good dates for the CPR/AED training that folks can come out for… good participation.
- I’m applying for a grant on defibrillators which could dramatically reduce the cost – God will provide, this might be one of his ways…
JUNE 9th
-First appointment tomorrow (6/10) with our pediatrician. Pray that God would give him wisdom to work with us in our special case. He’s a fantastic Doctor and the NICU staff were glad to hear that we see him, but we could use all the divine wisdom we can get.
-This is the first night at home… honestly, we’re praying that he lives through the night. No specific reason why he shouldnt, its the normal new baby paranoia x10
-We’re all very tired and the focus of getting him out of the hosiptal and home has ended. We’re realzing just how tired we are now that we don’t have a clear goal to accomplish
-He failed another hearing test before we left the hospital… we’re going to see a specialist in the next couple weeks, but we’re noticing that noises in the room aren’t bothering him when he’s sleeping. It’s concerning, to say the least.
